Carolina Motorsports Park was developed by a group of enthusiasts and racers from the south east. Joe Hooker and Bob Humphreys played leading roles in getting the project built. Land acquisition was completed in July 1998 with construction starting soon thereafter. The site was built on an old airport, known as “Kershaw Airport”. The track was designed by famed track designer Alan Wilson and the full 2.27 mile road course opened in July 1999. In 2009, Kart track construction began and the kart facility began operation in 2010. About this Venue
- Located right off Kershaw Hwy in Kershaw, SC. The GPS will take you right to the main entrance. Follow the entrance road about 1/4 mile to the main gate where you sign the track waiver.
- Some groups, such as CMP’s own Turn One track days use the Admin building for check-in and registration. NASA has registration in the garages near the tech stand.
- New owners took over track management in 2020 and have planned many upgrades for the facilities such as new PA system, updating the kart track, repaving the main track, and more.
- The track was re-paved in August 2020.

Note: NASA uses the staging area as a pit out for HPDE, other groups might use different pit entrances.
